Description
Studrail safe PVC horse fencing. Studtrail is manufactured in the UK by Peter Perks Ltd, we started producing in 1984. Studrail is designed as a direct replacement for wooden rails. The advantage of PVC is that the horses don’t chew it and if they run into it there is a reduced risk of injury. The same if a rider falls onto the fence, risk is reduced.
These advantages also translate into cost savings. Replacing wooden rails is an expensive and time consuming activity. So many of our customers have been delighted by not having to constantly maintain their fencing. One vets bill can be more than the entire fence, so anything that can reduce the risk of injury must be factored in. We have had many reports of horses just bouncing off a headlong charge into the fence.
Post centres can be between 6′ and 10′ ft (1.8m to 2.4m). 8’ft is a happy medium and means puitting in 30% fewer posts than with traditional post and rail. Again this is a big saving. Studrail tensions up very quickly and saves cutting and sawing rails to get a fit.
Most of our customers have found a 2 rail fence to be perfectly adequate.
Those that use 3 rails have normally had some special requirement such as a “Shetty that rolls under”.
There is no difference in strength between 3” and 4” Studrail the 4” just looks more substantial.
3” Studrail is particularly good when used as a sight rail over stock netting.
We are often asked if studrail is electrifyable and the answer is no. However, many people have put an electric wire inbetween two rails and had a very cost effective result. Usually they only turn it on every now and again, as a reminder. Sometimes a line on top of the posts is used to stop the horses chewing the post tops. They don’t chew the studrail!
4″ Brown Studrail attaches to intermediate posts using 4″ Brackets all available in our shop
